Flower Bouquets

Flower Bouquets

What's a walk down the aisle without an armful of gorgeous lilies-of-the-valley? Or Mother's Day without lovely tulips and orchids? Bouquets make every special occasion literally brighter and more fragrant. They are a collection of flowers gathered together and arranged in all sorts of creative designs. The most common kinds of bouquets are the nosegay, hand-tied and cascading kinds. The nosegay bouquet is round and full, while the cascading bouquet is long and flowing, held at one end. Hand-tied bouquets are long-stemmed flowers and leaves bundled together with a bow.

Bouquets are most associated with weddings. They are practically a part of the bride and her bridesmaids, and there is the tradition of throwing the bouquet after the wedding to single ladies at the wedding party. Bouquets also figure largely in courting and of course, Valentine's Day. Women all over the world love flowers, and the giving of bouquets has become synonymous with expressing feelings for a person. There are even specific flowers you can use to convey corresponding emotions, such as the mimosa for friendship.

Though traditional bouquets are still the favorite, there are many more modern floral designs and arrangements now coming out. With more than just one or two kinds of flowers, other materials such as pinecones, pieces of fruit, paper, cloth, seeds, bark and fibers have become part of bouquet-making. Whatever the arrangement though, bouquets have and always will be a part of the wonderful magic of flowers.
